Meet Rev. Dr. “Michel” Okitakoyi Lundula

Pastor Lundula is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He feels blessed and honored to be the Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Le Mars.

He holds a Doctor of Ministry (2013) and Master of Divinity (2008) from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. A Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Natural Resources (2005) from Africa University in Mutare/Zimbabwe, and an Associate Degree in Biology (1995) from Institut Superieur Pedagogique de Kananga in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Prior coming to Le Mars, he served the United Methodist Church in Nashua, IA, the Republic Community Church in Ionia, IA and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Dubuque, IA. He has also served the global church by leading mission groups to Africa, and also helping as a translator for the General Conference of the United Methodist Church (English - French) since 2008.

Pastor Lundula and his wife Berth grew up in the same area in the Democratic Republic of Congo and they have four children John, Nancy, Benjamin and Lucie.

His passion for ministry is to proclaim Christ to all God’s people, meet people in their context of life, celebrate with those who celebrate and cry with those who cry.
